Kendra Grant’s life story reads like an inspirational novel. She was born in Ohio, her parents divorced when she was one year old. Her father immediately remarried. Kendra and her two older sisters lived with their mother who remarried two years later.

At age 11 Kendra’s stepfather was transferred and moved the family to Sacramento, California. The girls experienced a significant level of culture shock. Kendra, who used to sneak drinks from her bio-dad, began using marijuana. Her first school year in California, Kendra was raped by an upperclassman at school. Her drug use, which she had considered recreational, became an escape, and she entered active addiction.

By the time Kendra was a high school senior, at age 17, she was in full-blown addiction, living the lifestyle that comes with it. Her parents asked her to leave their home. She lived on the streets of Sacramento, and parts of Southern California until she was 19. She suffered physical and sexual abuse. She did whatever it took to survive another day.

When Kendra was 19 years old, she hit bottom and reached out to her sisters who took her to a 12 step fellowship. Her oldest sister, Jessica, allowed Kendra to come live with her family. Finally, she was clean and living in a safe environment.

Kendra’s clean date is April 15, 1993. She began to study meditation in 1995. She began working in the self-help field in 1996. In 1998 she attended BGSU, majoring in Interpersonal Communications.
