Dave has been clean and sober and helping people since September 21, 2007… Well he has always been in the business of helping people and laying down his life for others. Dave served 11 years in the Army from 1980 to 1991 in the Special Services Combat Engineers and is a combat veteran. When he got out he went right to being a cop so he could help protect and save as well fulfill his need for adrenalin and replenish his high octane personality. Dave is now a corrections officer with the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Department and has worked as a drill instructor in the youth camp for years. Dave has spent numerous hours trying to help young people get clean and sober and has a passion for life and spirituality.
Dave has overcome great tragedies in the war and with his own personal demons with his addictions, but on August 25, 2011, he got a call that no parent wants to get. His 27 year old son, who was following in Dave’s footsteps and became a police officer, was murdered in the line of duty on a routine traffic stop. He was shot in the head and died on the spot. Dave came to a recovery meeting that night and shared what had happened and that is when he met Rick Marvin. After hearing the story Rick approached Dave and offered his condolences and most of all his support and friendship. The two men share an overwhelming tragic bond having lost their sons and became instant friends.
Rick offered Dave a way to deal with his loss through helping other parents and explained to him that he would get to kick some doors in and get some aggression out on some real scum bags while saving some addicts from sure death. It was a match made in heaven and they have been helping people and kicking in doors ever since.
